Solidspace named a 2026 AIA Firm Award finalist

We are proud to share that Solidspace has been named a finalist for the 2026 AIA Firm Award, which recognizes practices that have produced a consistent body of distinguished work over time. It is a good moment for the whole studio.
What the jury noticed
The citation points to our work on public buildings, our research on low-carbon construction and the way the studio is organized around small teams that stay with a project from first sketch to handover. Those are things we care about, so it was good to see them recognized.
One project came up often in the feedback we received: a mass timber school where the district, the teachers and the neighbors all shaped the result. We are glad it did, because it shows how we like to work.
The people behind it
Awards go to firms, but the work belongs to the people who draw it, build it and use it. Every project we submitted involved clients who trusted us with hard briefs, and consultants and builders who pushed us to do better. This recognition is theirs as well.
We also want to thank the builders and engineers who work beside us every day. Many of our best details came from a phone call on site, not from a drawing.
What comes next
Winners will be announced later this year. Until then, we will keep doing what the jury noticed: working carefully, testing ideas early and sharing what we learn.
If you would like to follow what we learn along the way, this journal is the best place to do it.
